LACON, Ill. -A fire at a skilled nursing facility in Lacon is being blamed on negligence.
The fire broke out in the kitchen area of Lacon Rehab and Nursing.
Officials say the fire was fueled by a flowing gas line located in the ceiling and was the result of negligent actions by a contractor working at the facility.
The residents were safely evacuated from the building, although one of them later suffered a medical event, was taken to OSF Saint Francis Medical Center in Peoria for treatment.
