PEORIA, Ill. – The Peoria woman who allegedly stole a Bartonville Police squad car has been indicted.
A Peoria County grand jury on Tuesday indicted 30-year-old Brittany Potter on one count of Aggravated Unlawful Possession of a Stolen Motor Vehicle. She is due back in court for an arraignment hearing on Thursday.
The alleged incident occurred on July 16th, where Potter was detained by Bartonville Police after a truck crashed in the area of Madison and Monroe.
Police say Potter informed officers of a person underneath the truck. She allegedly managed to climb through a cage partition in the squad car while the officer was checking, then fled the scene.
After the squad car was found in a different part of Bartonville, Potter reportedly fled the scene into nearby woods after police arrived on scene.
Potter was eventually arrested by Peoria Police, after she picked up a ride into Peoria by two people unaware of the situation.
