EAST PEORIA, Ill. (25 News) -An East Peoria woman is making her mark in the nationwide Super Mom competition, a fundraising campaign that supports Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals.
The contest features mothers from across the U.S., each sharing their personal stories and highlighting how they support their families and communities.
The grand prize winner gets a $20,000 honorarium, a family vacation, and a feature in New Beauty Magazine.
Advancing through the competition came as a surprise for quarterfinalist Jessica Smallberger, who said she never expected to make it as far as she did.
“That was a very big surprise. My oldest son’s girlfriend was over and said, ‘Hey, look, you made it to the quarterfinals.’ I said, ‘No way!’ It was huge. It was really cool, and it was nice to see that,” said Smallberger.
