Keeping up with the Jones’s is tough sometimes especially when it comes to decorating. They 7 in 10 parents are spending more on Halloween this year to make up for all the other events their kids missed out on. I know my kids love the decorating for the Holidays. But they say the #1 reason we overspend is to compete with our neighbors, and make sure our decorations look as good as theirs. 54% of people said they’ve gone over budget before.
Here are the top reasons we do it . . .
- “I wanted my decorations to look at good as my neighbors’.” 37% of people who’ve broken the bank for Halloween said that one of the main reasons.
- “I wanted to make my kids happy.”
- “I didn’t mean to spend so much. It all just added up.”
- “I wanted to impress people on social media.” The poll also found 38% of us have bought Halloween stuff JUST to post it on social media this year.
- “I didn’t want to miss out on my friends’ plans.” Like if someone threw a party, and you had to buy a costume.
- “I just felt pressured to spend on so many different things.”
- “I was hosting a party and wanted to impress people.”
