If you missed it, Raber Packing Company caught fire and suffered a lot of damage last Friday. This is incredibly sad news for Central Illinois. Raber’s was an institution. For years I lived in West Peoria and would visit on a regular basis. They always had a great selection of fresh cuts of meat and a surprisingly good selection of frozen sides and appetizers. And if you were ever in Raber’s you know one of the things that stood out the most was the temperature. It truly was like walking into a meat locker. I remember walking in one 90 degree and my glasses fogging up instantly. Here’s hoping Raber’s is able to rebuild.
