This Valentine’s Day is going to be different. For the first time in our lives it will be void of the little candy hearts that say, “Be Mine”, “Kiss Me”, and”I’m Yours”. The company that has made them since 1901 went out of business and the folks who bought the rights to make the hearts won’t be ready to put them out until next year. A recent piece on Penn Live has the details. (Check it out here) I never have liked the taste of those silly little hearts, but when they start showing up in February it feels right. Valentine’s Day without them will be a little like Christmas without candy canes, but then again, I don’t eat them either.
Call me “Old School” I guess.
It’s the tradition that tastes so good.
