I Couldn’t Believe This Was a Thing

The Drive Beer of the Month at Oliver’s in the Heights is Shiner Bock.  I don’t know if you’ve ever had one but it’s a really good beer.  I remember the first time I had one.  It was about 25 years ago in Austin, Texas.  We were there for the South by Southwest music festival.  At the time Shiner was just a  regional beer.  In fact, I don’t think it was really available outside of Texas.  We decided to get some, but that’s not what really stood out…it was how we got it.  At a drive-thru liquor store.  I remember it looked like a barn and you just drove down the middle, handed them your money and they handed you the beer through your window.  I’ve never seen a drive thru liquor store anywhere else.  Have you?
