PEORIA, Ill. – A man wanted for attempted murder was arrested in connection to a July 2019 shooting.
Jatterius L. Yankaway, 24, was apprehended by Peoria Police without incident Tuesday in the 700 block of Loucks.
Peoria Public Officer Amy Dotson stated Yankaway was arrested for attempted murder, aggravated battery, aggravated unlawful use of a weapon, and several other charges.
A handgun was located on him at the time of the arrest according to Dotson.
Police say on July 26, 2019, officers were called to the 700 block of Haungs for a ShotSpotter alert, when they located a victim with multiple gunshot wounds to the hip, torso and arm.
The victim was transported to an area hospital in critical condition.
Yankaway was transported to the Peoria County Jail where he is being held on an Illinois
Department of Corrections no bond warrant.
Members of the Target Offender Unit and U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force assisted police in the apprehension of Yankaway.
