PEORIA, Ill. – Age is just a number for some of the top disc golfers in the world this week in central Illinois.
Tuesday begins play in the Professional Disc Golf Association’s Masters Worlds Championship. The tournament runs through Saturday at eight courses in Eureka, Morton, Pekin, and Peoria.
Around 1,100 men and women from around the world will be competing in age-protected divisions. Masters Divisions start at age 40 and can go as high as 80 years old.
Tournament Director Nate Heinold, who also runs the annual central Illinois stop on the Disc Golf Pro Tour, the Ledgestone Open, says it gives those players a chance to become a Major champion.
“For these players here, this is their Olympics,” Heinold said. “For a lot of these folks, it’s their biggest event they’ll play in their entire life.”
The competition features a mix of professional touring players and amateurs. Heinold says some of the big names in the field for 2026 include Nate Sexton, Jennifer Allen, and Sarah Hokom.
Spectators can watch the tournament for free all five days. Heinold says the top players will mainly be at Northwood Park in Morton and Sunset Hills in Pekin.
