ELMWOOD, Ill. (25 News) – An abrupt end to a lengthy law enforcement career for one Peoria County police chief.
The mayor of Elmwood tells 25News that Aaron Bean was fired from his position as Chief of Police for the City of Elmwood on August 31st, although no reason was given as to why.
The notice of termination came directly from Elmwood City Mayor Andrew Almasi and the decision was ratified unanimously by the city council on Tuesday, Sept. 8.
Officer Mike Darrah is serving as interim police chief for the city, with about 10 years of service in the department.
Darrah now hopes to make it permanent at Elmwood’s next city council meeting on Sept. 22.
