PEORIA, Ill. – A 5-year-old boy is recovering after being hit by a car while riding his electric bike in Peoria.
Peoria Police say the crash happened just after 7:20 p.m. on the 1600 block of North Great Oak Drive.
The driver didn’t stop to help. They drove off, leaving the boy injured in the road.
Police say the child’s injuries were minor and not life-threatening. He was taken to a hospital for treatment.
Police were able to track down the driver, who turned out to be a 16-year-old. He’s now facing citations for leaving the scene of a crash and failing to report it. He was released into the custody of his parents.
