PEORIA, Ill. – Peoria Public Schools says a man recently arrested for allegedly sexually abusing more than one minor is a former employee of the district.
61-year-old Kevin Armstrong was arrested on Thursday on two counts of Aggravated Criminal Sexual Assault and one count of Predatory Criminal Sexual Abuse.
A PPS spokeswoman says Armstrong worked in a “limited capacity” as a referee assigner, and says he did not have direct contact with students.
The statement adds that the alleged incidents occurred during events outside of school.
The district states that it is cooperating with law enforcement.

PEORIA, Ill. – Peoria Police have arrested a man accused of sexually abusing more than one minor.
61-year-old Kevin Armstrong was arrested Thursday during a traffic stop on Interstate 74 following a weeklong investigation.
Police responded to a local middle school on April 29th regarding a report from a minor that alleges ongoing sexual abuse by adult, with Armstrong reportedly identified as the suspect.
The next day, Armstrong was reportedly identified as a suspect after police responded to a residence regarding allegations of inappropriate touching of an additional minor.
Police say interviews with the minors were conducted, with a search warrant authorized at Armstrong’s house in the area of Northmoor Road and Jayar Drive.
Armstrong is charged with two counts of Aggravated Criminal Sexual Assault and one count of Predatory Criminal Sexual Abuse.
