TAZEWELL COUNTY, Ill. (25 News) – Three dogs died Friday evening in a house fire that happened in Washington, the city’s fire chief said.
Firefighters were called at 7:25 p.m. to the home on Trails End in Washington. Chief Tyler Gee said the fire started in the kitchen and spread to the attic.
Gee told 25 News that three people who lived at the house were not home at the time, but three dogs perished and another dog survived the fire.
The chief said the fire was accidental, and damage was estimated at $50,000.
The residents were displaced, Gee said. A GoFundMe page has been created to help them.
