(25 News) – Severe storms, including tornado sightings, hail, and flash flooding, swept through Central Illinois for a second night in a row on Friday.
The National Weather Service issued a tornado warning until 7:15 p.m. for southwestern Tazewell and northeastern Mason Counties.
A tornado was seen at 6:03 p.m. four miles southwest of Hopedale and at 6:35 p.m., a weather spotter reported a funnel cloud three miles north-northwest of Minier, halfway between Mackinaw and Hopedale.
The NWS said a funnel cloud was spotted a mile northwest of Alta, in Peoria County, at 7:11 p.m.
The NWS issued a severe thunderstorm warning until 8 p.m. for southeastern Woodford and northwestern McLean Counties, with a storm cell carrying 60 mph winds and quarter-size hail over Carlock.
Flooding was reported in Tremont, in Tazewell County, at 6:53 p.m. Later, flash flooding was reported two miles northwest of Carlock.
The NWS said County Roads 2000 East at 100 North outside of Congerville were impassable because of flood waters as of 7:46 p.m. Close-by at 2000 East and Route 150, the weather service said four to six inches of water covered the roadway at 7:55 p.m.
El Paso Emergency and Disaster Agency reported County Roads 2600 East at 600 North near Kappa were impassable due to flash flooding.
