Memphis Grizzlies forward Brandon Clarke was arrested and booked into an Arkansas jail on four charges, including possession of and trafficking a controlled substance, on Wednesday afternoon.
Clarke 29, was booked into the facility in Cross County, Ark., at 1:03 CDT, according to the Cross County Sheriff’s Office. He also was charged with two driving offenses – improper passing and fleeing in a vehicle or conveyance with speeding.
Cross County, Ark., is approximately 55 miles west of Memphis.
The office’s website didn’t list whether or not the charges were misdemeanors or felonies. The website profile of Clarke includes his booking photo.
Grizzlies coach Tuomas Iisalo said he was “aware of the reports” but didn’t further comment on Clarke’s situation prior to Wednesday’s home game against the New York Knicks.
Clarke is in his seventh season with the Grizzlies. He has played in just two games this season. He was out at the start of the season due to a right knee injury. He returned in mid-December and injured his right calf in his second game.
The Grizzlies ruled Clarke out for the rest of the season on March 24.
Clarke has career averages of 10.2 points and 5.5 rebounds in 309 games (50 starts) for Memphis.
