PEORIA, Ill. – A Peoria tattoo artist charged and held in jail for grooming a minor must stay behind bars, despite his lawyer asking the judge to review his case for release on Wednesday.
34-year-old Mario Davis is accused of sending explicit text messages to a 16-year-old girl in February and continuing to text her after finding out her age.
Davis’ attorney said he already lost his business, InkCapital Tattoos, and several of his employees have lost their jobs too.
Peoria County Chief Judge Katherine Gorman denied his release from jail. Davis must remain in jail until his trial. According to 25 News, Gorman cited his criminal history, including being convicted of tattooing a minor.
Davis will be back in court on July 31.
