PEKIN, Ill. – Pekin is getting out of the school bus business.
The city council on Monday voted to terminate agreements with Districts 108 and 303 next year and end its school bus services.
City Manager John Dossey says those discussions to end the agreement started last year.
“These discussions have continued, and both districts are actively working on transitioning to providing transportation independently, or contracting with a third-party provider,” Dossey said.
Dossey says South Pekin has already started its own bus service.
25 News reports that District 108 does not expect any changes in bus routes, but will have more information available in August.
