CHICAGO, Ill. – Labor Day, the unofficial end to summer is here, as Americans are packing up to go home.
This Labor Day Weekend is capping off the busiest summer travel period on record, according to the TSA (Transportation Security Administration), which is expecting to screen at least 14 million passengers this holiday weekend, which is nearly 11-percent more than last year, and it’s even higher than 2019 pre-pandemic.
FOX News at Chicago O’Hare International Airport reports that the good news is the airlines seem to be doing a good job of keeping up with the surge in passengers.
More than half of Americans planned to travel over the Labor Day holiday, according to Wallet Hub.
AAA says more than 80-percent of travelers surveyed said they planned on driving to their destinations, so the roads may be a little crowded Monday as they drive home.
There were over 700 flights delayed within, into, or out of the U-S as of Monday morning, according to Flight-Aware.
AAA says the average price of a gallon of regular unleaded gas nationally is $3.80.
