PEORIA, Ill. – Gas prices in the Peoria-area are trickling upward.
GasBuddy says the average price of a gallon of unleaded is around $3.62, a 5.6 cent increase from a week ago. The average is 6.5 cents higher than a month ago, but down 90.7 cents compared to this time last year.
The cheapest price reported was $3.35/gallon, while the most expensive is $3.79.
GasBuddy says the numbers statewide and nationally are slightly down. In Illinois, the average price is about $3.61, down 1.7 cents from last week. Nationally, the average price is $3.40, down about 4.2 cents.
AAA is reporting similar numbers.
They’re reporting the average price in the Peoria-Pekin metro area is $3.61. It’s a 4.5 cent increase from last week, up around 5 cents from last month, but down 90.8 cents from last year.
Both groups are reporting a slight decrease in the average price in Illinois. GasBuddy says the state average is around $3.61 a gallon, down 1.7 cents from last week. AAA says the average price is $3.63, down .9 cents from the week before.
GasBuddy says the national average fell 4.2 cents in a week to around $3.40 a gallon. AAA is reporting the average price at $3.44, down 3 cents from last week.
Patrick De Haan of GasBuddy says concerns over bank failures in the U.S. and globally slowed down price increases at the pump, but that could only be temporary.
