PEORIA, Ill – A house resulted in injuries to one person.
Peoria firefighters responded to a report of a kitchen fire at a residence on Meadows Place off Sheridan Road.
Battalion Chief Jeff Hascall said crews upon arrival saw light smoke coming from the front door and several occupants were leaving the house.
Four adults were able to escape the fire. Although Haskell said one of them was transported to a local hospital with what were described as minor injuries.
Firefighters were able to rescue six cats.
The Red Cross provided housing assistance for the adults who were displaced.
A Peoria Fire Department investigator dispatched to the scene determined the cause to be accidental.
