PEORIA, Ill. – Peoria gas prices have dropped just under a penny a gallon in the last week, averaging $3.73 on Monday, according to GasBuddy.
Local prices are roughly 6.5 cents higher than a month ago, and about 12 cents lower than this time last year.
GasBuddy price reports show the cheapest gas in Peoria on Sunday was $3.49 a gallon, while the most expensive gas was $3.94. Illinois’ lowest gas price was $3.18 and the highest-priced gas in the state was $5.19 on Sunday.
The national average gas price, according to GasBuddy, has dropped 3.2 cents a gallon in the last week, averaging $3.41 on Monday.
“As summer driving season comes to a gradual close, we continue to see gasoline prices declining in most of the country as demand remains muted. Incredibly, the drop has also caused diesel fuel prices to crumble to their lowest level since before Russia’s invasion of Ukraine,” said Patrick De Haan, head of petroleum analysis at GasBuddy.
Meanwhile, AAA says the average price of gas in the Peoria/Pekin metro area is $3.73, the state average is $3.88 and the national average price of gas is $3.44.
