PEORIA, Ill. — Peoria Police responded to multiple ShotSpotter alerts early Wednesday morning on W. McClure, between N. North and N. Bigelow Streets.
PPD Spokesperson Semone Roth says 44 rounds were fired just before 2:45 a.m., but no one was hit by gunfire.
As officers arrived, they saw a vehicle leaving the scene at a high rate of speed. They followed the vehicle until it crashed at the intersection of Bigelow and Nebraska.
PPD says officers then saw the driver, identified as 27-year-old Jarious Bruce, exit the vehicle and run off.
After a brief chase, officers took Bruce into custody. While searching his vehicle, police found a handgun inside.
Bruce was arrested for Possession of a Weapon by a Felon, No FOID, Fleeing and Eluding, Reckless Driving, and Resisting Arrest.
Bruce was taken to the Peoria County Jail following his arrest. Jail records now show he’s been released from custody.
