KNOX COUNTY, Ill. – New details are available about a dead body that was found last October inside a storage unit in rural Knox County.
The Knox County Sheriffs Department says they’ve received word that the remains are indeed that of Richard Young of Maquon. Young is a former Maquon Police Chief.
Police went to a storage unit last October on a report of a suspicious odor, at which time Marcy Oglesby, 50, told investigators it was probably a dead animal, until the unit was opened and the body discovered.
Oglesby had faced murder and other charges, but all except forgery and Concealment of a Death were dropped after a judge ruled her speedy trial rights were violated.
The Knox County State’s Attorney is said to be appealing that ruling.
