PEORIA, Ill. – A candle is believed to have caused a fire that caused damage to a West Bluff home Saturday, not far from the Bradley University campus.
Peoria firefighters say that was the cause of the blaze on West Barker Avenue, inbetween Institute Place and Moss Avenue, just prior to 1:00 p.m., getting it under control in about ten minutes.
A smoke alarm alerted residents to the fire, which crews contained to a room on the second floor of the two and a half story building.
Residents got out of the home safely, and no one was hurt.
Damage was estimated at $15,000.
The official cause was listed as unintentional.
