EAST PEORIA, Ill. – We’re learning more about the incident that started Wednesday afternoon on the Murray Baker Bridge, that ended up resulting in four people being arrested.
Illinois State Police say two pedestrians — Jake Simmerman, 29 from Chillicothe, and Richard Morris, 32 from Peoria — were walking across the bridge and caused two accidents involving four vehicles.
The two are out of custody after being charged with Walking on a Controlled Access Highway and Disorderly Conduct.
Meanwhile, police say two other people were arrested during the investigation — Erik Poynter, 30, and Miranda Hobbs, 26, both of Chillicothe — are charged counts of Possession of a Controlled Substance, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, and Possession of Hypodermic Needles.
No details surrounding those arrests have been released, but the two were taken to the Tazewell County Jail.
There were no injuries in the accidents.
