PEORIA, Ill. — With concerns about the spread of the Omicron variant, some Illinois colleges and universities are switching back to remote learning temporarily after the holidays.
Bradley University is not one of them.
BU Spokesperson Renee Charles says the university will continue to monitor the COVID-19 landscape, and right now plan on starting the spring semester in-person on Jan. 19.
“The one thing we’ve learned throughout this pandemic is that things change very, very quickly. So, we’re not going to make any significant changes to our plans right now…we’re going to wait until closer to the start of the semester,” Charles said.
Bradley is suggesting students to get a booster if they qualify before returning to campus.
“Go ahead and do that, because that’s what we’re finding is one of the best ways to fight this virus that we’re dealing with right now, this variant. So, do everything that you can…we’re recommending our students consider quarantining before they come back in mid-January,” Charles said.
Bradley officials will update students and staff about the start of the spring semester as it gets closer.
Illinois Central College will be in person after the holidays.
Illinois State University returns to online classes Jan. 10-21.
Illinois Wesleyan University will require its students to provide a negative COVID test before coming back for the spring semester.
