UPDATE –
PEORIA, Ill. – A 15-year-old boy is Peoria’s record 26th homicide victim of 2021.
The Peoria County coroner says Rayton Brock of W. Nevada Street was found by officers around 7:17 p.m. Friday as they responded to the 1700 block of N. California Avenue following a ShotSpotter alert indicating multiple rounds fired.
Brock, who was unresponsive, not breathing and without a pulse, was transported to OSF Saint Francis Medical Center. Coroner Jamie Harwood says despite aggressive resuscitative efforts, Brock was pronounced dead at 7:50 p.m., shortly after arrival.
An autopsy revealed Brock suffered multiple gunshot wounds to his body and likely died within minutes of injury.
Peoria police are continuing their investigation. No further information was released from the coroner’s office.

Peoria, Ill — A man is dead in the wake of a shooting reported last night in Peoria’s East Bluff neighborhood.
Peora Police say they got a ShotSpotter alert, registering multiple gunshots at a location near North California Street and East Illinois Street.
Officers found a man, unresponsive with a gunshot wound at the scene.
AMT’s rushed him off to a nearby hospital where the man later died.
In a news release issued late Friday, Peoria Police say information regarding the victim will be released upon completion of an autopsy.
That’s scheduled for this weekend.
There is no suspect information released at this time.
Investigators are asking anyone with information to please contact the Peoria Police Department or Crime-Stoppers.
