PEORIA, Ill. — With 37 new cases of COVID-19 reported by the Peoria City/County Health Department on Thursday, the area has now seen over 1,200 since the start of the pandemic.
In Peoria County, where a recent outbreak at the county jail has contributed 30 current cases, 644 of 923 have recovered.
233 were considered to be in home isolation and 16 were hospitalized.
171 Tazewell County residents who have contracted the virus have since recovered. 61 were recovering at their homes, while seven were in area hospitals.
Woodford County doesn’t report specifics about its numbers, but it was reporting no new cases since Wednesday, leaving its total at 68.
The area’s recovery rate dipped slightly, from 72% Wednesday to 70% Thursday.
The region’s 28-day hospitalization rate went up yet again, to 25%.
This is one of six metrics the state uses to determine a region’s standing in Restore Illinois. Should the area remain well above 0% for a prolonged period of time, it could possibly be kicked back to phase three.
Eight people were in area intensive care units with confirmed cases, while four were in ICUs with suspected cases.
16 non-ICU cases were in local hospitals.
