(National Weather Service) – A flash flood watch remains in effect in Peoria and the surrounding areas until 1 A.M. Monday morning.
Showers and possible thunderstorms are expected throughout Sunday afternoon and evening with wind gusts as high as 21 mph. Over an inch of rain is expected in the afternoon and evening on Sunday.
The showers this weekend are the result of a cold front pushing across central Illinois over the weekend. The combination of this front with moisture from the remnants of tropical depression Imelda will produce heavy rain over portions of central Illinois.
