The music world has lost another.
Eddie Money has passed away after recently announcing he had stage 4 esophageal cancer. His family just released this statement: “The Money Family regrets to announce that Eddie passed away peacefully early this morning. It is with heavy hearts that we say goodbye to our loving husband and father. We cannot imagine our world without him. We are grateful that he will live on forever through his music.”
The few times we had the chance to meet Eddie, he was fun loving, upbeat and loving life. A couple of years ago after he performed in a drizzle on Peoria’s riverfront, John Riley and I were chatting with him just outside his trailer. We were talking music, rock history…all sorts of things. Right in the middle of the conversation, a middle-aged woman just beyond the fence yells “Hey Eddie!”. He turns to her and she lifts up her shirt to show him her assets. He said “Thank you sweetheart!” and turned back to the conversation as if nothing even happened.
The life of a rock star.
We’ll miss you Eddie.
