The City of East Peoria announced its Fall Cleanup week will run Sept. 30 through Oct. 4.
Items will be picked up on a resident’s normal garbage day and. Residents may not set out items before Saturday Sept. 28.
Jill Peterson, City of East Peoria Public Relations Coordinator, said there are certain types of items they accept.
“The items that you can put out are carpets, furniture, laminate flooring pieces, and other household items,” Peterson said. “Mattresses, tree limbs, and brush”.
Items that will not be accepted include appliances, computers, constructions and remodeling materials, hazardous waste such as paint or gas, landscape waste, small electronics, tires, TV’s, water heaters, and water softeners.
“Pretty much, if it has a cord, we can’t take it,” Peterson said.
Due to the Environmental Protection Agency Regulations, the city can not pick up electronic items because they must be disposed of by a licensed recycler.
There is a limited amount of items that can be piled up for pickup.
It can be no larger than four feet wide, four feet high, and eight feet long,” Peterson said. “Which is about the size of a pickup truck bed”.
Residents outside of East Peoria may not drop off items for pickup.
