Stech: “Centerfold”

It was this day in 1982 that The J. Geils Band reached the top of the Billboard Hot 100 Singles Chart for the first and only time with “Centerfold” which spent six weeks at #1. They also went to number one on the Billboard 200 album chart for the first and only time with “Freeze Frame” which spent four weeks on top of the chart. When I saw this today it took me back a few years in grade school. I was either in the 7th or 8th at the time and was involved in a lip-sync contest with Student Council. It was 2 other buddies and myself. We ended up winning the contest. Umm guess what song it was . . . yeah “Centerfold” from the J. Geils Band! I laugh at this now because I really didn’t know what the song was about at that time I just liked it and we got away with it as the judges were our Teachers 🙂
