We’ve all screwed up at our jobs.
I’ve done it more times than I can count, but that’s OK because my job doesn’t involve life or death. (unless you count not playing someones request in time)
You’ve probably seen or heard about the screw-up that was the Best Picture award at the Oscars this year. “La La Land” was mistakenly announced as the winner, when it was discovered that they had the wrong card in the envelope. Somehow the Best Actress card (Emma Stone for “La La Land”) was in the Best Picture envelope and Warren Beatty was definitely confused. He showed it to Faye Dunaway and she just saw “La La Land” and made the announcement.
It was very awkward to say the least after several “thank you” speeches were made when they mistake was corrected.
I understand that mistakes can happen…even at Price Waterhouse Coopers. (the accounting firm that handles the envelopes)
But you had one job.
