Arson Arrest In Creve Coeur Fire

Officials with the Creve Coeur Fire Department say crews were sent to 141 Oaklawn Circle around 6:00 p.m. Monday on reports of a structure fire.

Firefighters found flames on three sides of the home.

28-year-old Austin Garcia, of 141 Oaklawn Circle, told firefighters he started the fire. He then fled the scene.

The fire department was able to extinguish the fire, and Creve Coeur Police located Garcia inside the residence. Two other people were found in the home, and it was determined that they were inside when the fire started.

The Illinois Fire Marshal and an Arson Investigator from East Peoria Fire Department determined the fire was deliberately set.

Garcia was arrested and taken to the Tazewell County Jail, where he was awaiting a bond hearing on charges of aggravated arson, a Class X felony.
